Temporary Teeth You Can Eat With: What Are Your Options?

Temporary Teeth You Can Eat With

It can be easy to take your teeth for granted — that is, until you have a damaged or missing tooth. Then it may be hard to maintain your self-confidence. In fact, you may even feel self-conscious smiling in public!

For that reason, many people with chipped, fractured, or missing teeth use temporary solutions that make them feel comfortable in social settings. Some of these temporary teeth are even strong enough to eat with! Let’s talk about some options for temporary teeth, and how you can make the right selection.

What are my options for temporary teeth?

There are several options for you to consider when thinking about a temporary solution for covering/protecting damaged and missing teeth. Here are 3 common ones:

  1. Temporary tooth implant

In many cases, a dentist may provide you with a temporary tooth implant in the interval between your visit and the arrival of your permanent implant from the lab. However, there are also over-the-counter products that can help you deal with a tooth emergency.

For instance, many emergency tooth replacement kits are sold at pharmacies and big box retailers. These kits contain thermoplastic beads that are placed in hot water until they become soft and malleable. At that point, you can shape the beads with your fingers into a solid, tooth-shaped lump that can fill the gap where your missing tooth used to be. The properties of the temporary tooth mass will allow you to adjust it until it is “locked into place” alongside your other teeth.

While this option is one of the cheapest ones available, you can easily lose the temporary implant when eating a normal meal, which can be a major drawback in terms of comfort and confidence.

  1. Flipper tooth

A flipper tooth is basically a removable retainer that fits along the contours of your palate or jaw. There are one or more prosthetic teeth attached to this retainer that fill in the gaps that any lost teeth leave behind. Another way to think of a flipper tooth is a temporary partial denture that gives the appearance of a complete smile.

You can get a flipper tooth through your dentist. The process of forming one is relatively straightforward. First, the dentist takes an impression of your mouth with a soft, clay-like material. That impression is sent to a dental lab, which then uses it to create a personalized flipper tooth that will fit the unique contours of your mouth, and fill any spaces with acrylic teeth.

Flipper teeth are usually a more comfortable, long-lasting option compared to OTC kits that feature temporary teeth. They are also suitable for eating many types of food. That being said, they are still fragile, and easily broken.

  1. Snap-on veneers

Snap-on veneers are also known as “snap-on teeth,” “snap-on smile,” or “clip-on veneers.” This option is very similar to a flipper tooth in that it provides the appearance of a complete smile with no spaces from missing/damaged teeth. Also like flipper teeth, snap-on veneers are formed by taking an impression of your teeth, and are usually made out of acrylic or resin.

The big difference between snap-on veneers and flipper teeth is that snap-on veneers are designed to fully cover your permanent teeth, instead of partially cover them the way flipper teeth do. As a result, snap-on veneers may make your teeth feel a little bigger than usual. When it comes to convenience, though, snap-on teeth are hard to beat: you can put them on and take them off whenever you like!

Why Choose Shiny Smile Veneers?

At Shiny Smile Veneers, we offer an affordable and high-quality solution for customers with missing or damaged teeth. Why choose us to fill your temporary teeth needs? Here are just a few reasons:

  1. Shiny Smile Veneers are affordable

Many temporary teeth options — including other veneers — are not just uncomfortable, inconvenient, and painful, but are also very expensive. On the other hand, Shiny Smile Veneers are highly affordable (only $570 for a full set, top and bottom!) In addition, you don’t have to pay to visit your dentist when you use Shiny Smile Veneers. That means no office fee, no co-pay, no hassle with insurance, and no transportation costs!

  1. You can eat and drink with Shiny Smile Veneers

Our sturdy veneers allow you to eat both hot and cold foods, and drink hot and cold beverages, without having to worry about damaging them. Granted, removing them prior to a meal could extend their effective life span; however, if you feel uncomfortable removing your veneers, you can definitely leave them in (unless you’re eating really hard or chewy foods).

Please note: “Hot” and “cold” does not mean “boiling” and “frozen.” Also, chewing gum is not recommended while wearing your veneers.

  1. Shiny Smile Veneers look real

It’s important for your temporary teeth to look (and feel) real. How else can you regain your confidence as you smile and laugh with your friends?

Fortunately, Shiny Smile Veneers provides that beautiful, natural appearance that you need in order to smile proudly for the whole world to see. Our veneers are made of very high-quality material, and will fit seamlessly alongside your other teeth to make a complete set.
